TAMMY CAPPOCHI & ODETTA WEBB

Just as the Koori Gardening Team has emerged out of the Living Museum, other projects in turn have emerged from the Koori Gardening Team.

Having gained a firm grounding in horticulture, Tammy Capocchi (née Hunter) and Odetta Webb wanted to go further and start their own business, producing essential oils from indigenous plants.

This has led the girls into so many issues, challenges, problems, obstacles and so on. They have even become involved in international copyright issues with plant and products belonging to indigenous cultures. What started out as a simple dream to have their own business has become an ongoing battle.

However, they have persisted and studied and consulted. They have had meetings with producers, bankers, horticulturalists, lawyers, benefactors, farmers, Aboriginal organisations, to name a few. There are still some steps to go and we are all looking forward to the good oil.
