PARKS VICTORIA
The partnership between the Living Museum and Parks Victoria has continued to be an important aspect of our operation both in relationship
to our place at Pipemakers Park and the activities which we carry out in
the park, and also through the wider connections with the Parks Victoria organisation as the major environmental and open space manager in the region.
At the park level, Parks Victoria have facilitated the various projects,
developments and events we have run in the park such as assisting with material
for tree plantings, providing environmental management skills and putting
us on to the necessary contacts for supplies and expertise. Much of what
we do is only possible because of the facilities we have available in Pipemakers
Park. In exchange for use of these facilities, we have brought many thousands
of dollars to capital improvements to the park.
In the broader sense, we have had considerable contact with a number
of Parks Victoria staff in connection with research and management of remnant
vegetation sites in the region. Of particular value has been the discussions
on the future development of several sites along the Maribyrnong including
the next door ADI site, Footscray Park, the Maribyrnong Explosives Factory
and grasslands areas along the Maribyrnong Valley.
Our aims and those of Parks Victoria coincide in many ways. The Parks
