Rockpool Shrimp

  • Feeds on decomposing vegetation and bacteria
  • Are found around stones and aquatic

  • Are crustaceans
  • Found along muddy edges of Maribyrnong Estuary
  • Feeds on animal and vegetable material
  • Most common species is shore crab
  • Uses their claws to capture pray
Backswimmer
  • Are predators
  • Feeds off insects from the surface
  • Eats other aquatic animals
  • Carries an air bubble for breathing underwater
Midges
  • A type of fly
  • Is an insect
  • Has lighting-fast lifecycles which allows them to breed up in vast numbers in just a few days
